《APEX 英雄》（APEX Legends）遊戲設計主管 Daniel Z Klein 已確認離開 Respawn Entertainment，英雄因年言論原因是首席設計師遭繼動視暴雪的性醜聞風暴之後，網友挖出他在 2007 年曾發布的開除不當言論。

事件正好發生在動視暴雪因性醜聞訴訟案身陷嚴重的不當被起公關危機，同一時間 Klein 在 2007 年部落格曾留下的歧視文章，被網友挖出疑似含有性別歧視與種族歧視的英雄因年言論言論。

事情爆出後，Klein 於第一時間在推特發文，開除為自己過去的不當被起不成熟言論致歉，而他的歧視同事 Ryan K. Rigney 也為他緩頰，認為 2007 年的英雄因年言論行為不能反映這人在 2021 年的現在，同時也認為網友在沒有明確的首席設計師遭證據情況下就指控 Klein 有性別歧視實為不妥。

然而事情並未止息，經過一週的不當被起時間，Klein 在個人推特證實自己已在上週五離開 Respawn 工作室。歧視

Klein 在個人推特發表長文，解釋自己當年之所以會發表不當言論隻為獲得人們的關注回應，同時再次承認錯誤，並認為自己這最近這幾年努力成為一個更好的人，也希望發生在自己身上的事能夠為其他處在同樣狀況的人帶來警示。

「我完全承認我在 2007 年發表過的可怕且偏執言論，我對於年輕的自己做出這些事感到厭惡。」Klein 向 Kotaku 表示：「但毫無疑問的，在我看來這些言論會曝光是因為有人刻意去尋找來打擊我。EA 也知道這一項指控，我特別要求他們注意這種策略，以免其他員工在未來會受到一樣的策略所針對。」

Klein 過去曾在 Riot Games 任職，2018 年因為拒絕配合公司的社交媒體政策而被開除，理由是之前在 PAX West 遊戲博覽會中，Riot 曾舉辦一場隻限女性與非二元性別人士參加的活動而遭到玩家抗議，Klein 則是公開捍衛活動立場，進而與 Reddit 論壇網友引起爭辯，隨後便被 Riot 開除。
